Hello! My name is Monique Allen, holistic nutrition educator based in Jamaica W.I. I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Jamaica. Being the granddaughter of a farmer, I always had an appreciation for local foods. However, the influence of Rastafarian culture in my late teens developed my true passion for food. I am currently a holistic nutrition educator, wellness author, and sustainable-living advocate.
Message from me : If anyone asks me what diet I am on I will say plant based. My eating style in constantly changing. Around 10 years ago I gave up cheese and dairy, 6 years ago all form of meat, 4 years ago soy and just last year peanut and wheat. And I am currently in the process of giving up rice and oats. I would never tell anyone these milestones were met overnight it took time and a few mistakes. In my quest, I have slipped once or twice. And that is ok. I am just like you -“We” are all still learning together. Most importantly, be patient with yourself and listen to your body. Give attention to your spiritual. |
I believe foods are powerful. That is what lead me to the study of the Science of Nutrition.
I believe that the foods we eat are one of the most important factors that contribute to our overall health and disease prevention.
I place emphasis on the uniqueness of an individual, there is no one size fits all diet and tailor treatment according to each persons needs, eating style and personal taste.
I don't believe in depravation my role as holistic nutrition educator is not to take away your favourite foods but to introduce you to new plant based foods, that will nourish your physical as well as spiritual.
Currently with running my Health and Wellness practice, I am the in house nutrition educator at Complete Wellness Jamaica.
I work with the wellness team there and offer nutrition education, meal planning to all members. My areas of specialty include, but are not limited to, preventive therapy through plantbased eating ,inflammation, auto-immune disease, digestive health, skin health, hormonal health, cholesterol management, blood sugar management, food allergies and weight management.
In the area of Caribbean lifestyle I am the host of "Cook Rasta Food with a Wellness Author- Airbnb Experience" which allows guests the oppurtunity to gain knowledge Rastafari Culture, learn about alkaline, electric, non-hybrid foods , take part in a cooking class and enjoy a traditional ital meal.
Thank you for reading.
